How much does the general@public and the student population bring their own materials to use at the@library? If you go to the library you can see many people using the library@every day for a wide variety of purposes which include borrowing books and@video cassettes, reading newspapers and magazines, and looking at picture@books. Junior high school and high school students also use the library to@do their schoolwork. Students also study both for school and in preparation@for university entrance examinations. For these students the library is an@important place. Adults also use the library to find information and do@research. Adults often bring their own materials to use at the library. While people do use the materials in the public libraries, with the exception of large scale public libraries, their needs are not being met. Many libraries provide study rooms and other such space for people to use. Some libraries do not have such places, but they do provide places to sit while people look at things in the library. There are, however, a number of libraries that seem rather strange. These libraries are supposed to be run as a public service for the people. Yet, these strange libraries forbid people to bring their own materials with them to use in the library. I wrote and asked why it was forbidden. The results were as follows: Let me know after you edit and I will look again. I may have missed a few things. Probably it is best if you e-mail me each page and I can edit them and send them and send them back. |
